For me, one of the big advantages of the xONEx tickets is the provision for reissue at, what seems to me, a very nominal fee. Because I am willing to pay to keep my plans flexible (and my plans do change), I usually have at least two reissues, and am very willing to pay a couple of hundred dollars each time for this option. In practice, I have always had at least two reissues and sometimes 4 or 5. In addition, I find it very convenient to start with an e-ticket so I don’t have to worry about coordinating the ticket pickup, etc. So I tend to have my initial ticket with just the intercontinental flights and the initial (ie., before the first long stopover) intra-continental flights. Hence I start with well under 16 flights and expand it later (usually to the full 20).
