There was a woman who was jailed for having codeine, bought OTC in the UK in her bloodstream on arrival in DXB several years back.

I think I would be very careful, and if necessary, consult with the embassy. Have you checked to see what the FCO country pages say about medicines? They're often an easily accessible, but not definitive, source of information.
