Thinking of going next month and according to the website I have a GO room/strip view @ Flamingo listed as comp as well as a couple of others hotels including Paris for the dates I'm interested in.

So is it my understanding that even though I book a GO/strip view @ Flamingo , there is no guarantee I'll get one?
I could be put in a non-renovated room instead?
If that's the case I would probably just be better off @ Paris or Rio because there really isn't a downgrade there from a standard room?
Thanks for any info.
Myself, as well as others, have been told (over the last few years) --- that "confirmed' COMP rooms are not a guarantee, much like when you ask for a king bedded or smoking room (which are considered requests). I've accepted this fact over the last few years, but have had good success at getting the desired type of room (i.e. Augustus Tower when checking into Caesars).

I decided to do an experiment, and sent Harrah's an email earlier today, posing this same question. What follows is the message and response :

my exact question :

Hi,
Sometimes, when I check for COMP rooms in Vegas (such as at Caesars Palace Las Vegas) I am offered a COMP in a number of room categories such as Deluxe Augustus, Premium Palace Tower, and Classic Guest Room.
If I choose the "Premium Palace Tower" room, am I confirmed in that room type? I understand that bedding and smoking requests are just "requests" -- but, when given multiple COMP room options, are these guarantees?
Thank you!
Michael
and the answer around 5 hours later (bolding mine)

Dear Michael,
Thank you for writing Caesar’s Palace Las Vegas.
In regard to your question:
When you are viewing your Comp’s online, the system will show all room types available to you. So, if you see a Premium Palace Tower Room available and you are able to select and book it, then you would be confirmed in that room type.
If there is anything else we can do for you, please feel free to contact us again.
Thank you very much,
Harrah's Entertainment E-Info Services
Now, I guess that I could ask what does "confirmed in that room type" really mean --- but, that really does seem self evident to me. So, I guess, I'm going to carry print out of this email response with me at check-in --- in case a front desk clerk tells me that the "confirmed room type" is only a request.

Note how I "specifically" refer to "requests" by comparing the room choice to the request for bedding or smoking as noted "I understand that bedding and smoking requests are just "requests" -- but, when given multiple COMP room options, are these guarantees?" --- I wanted to make sure there was no misunderstanding, and the answer seems to take this into account....

So, skofarrell and others --- seems that the front end staff at Harrah's properties are trying to convince us that we can have whatever room they want to give us --- but, corporate thinks about it a bit differently..... Hmmm...... This response is good news, though, you still need to be [possibly] prepared for an argument, unless a host has pre-assigned your room before check-in.
