[QUOTE=Peacock;9283693]What types of anomalies, if any, have you discovered during pre-flight walk arounds? Unsecured service access panels? FOD damage from the previous flight? Thanks in advance![/QUOTE

I think there were some posts on this earlier in this thread if you want to go back and look. I've noticed just the normal stuff you catch, low tire pressure, leaking hydraulics from the reservoir, bird strikes on the plane, dents on the plane from the galley service trucks, burned out nav lights, leaking oil from the engine, these are all things I've seen during a walkaround over a 20 year career (not on one flight )

Back in the good ol days when United had it's own maintenance force everywhere, they did a walk around of the jet before each flight. Now, they do one only once a day when it comes through a maintenance hub, and before each ETOPS flight departure. Because of this, pilots find more things wrong with the jet than in the past when Maintenance would see it and fix it before the pilots even got there.
