Experience transiting Dubai with medication?

I've just seen a news article about someone being jailed for 4 years in Dubai for inadvertantly carrying some cannabis in his luggage - the article referred to the generally draconian customs there - even for transiting passengers - and drew attention to other cases of people being incarcerated for the smallest amounts - such as 3 poppy-seeds or 0.003g of cannabis.

Since I'm due to be transiting Dubai soon - I followed some links to a list of banned items and I notice it includes anti-depressants.

My traveling companion will have some of these with him - and after reading the articles I'm really concerned about taking this flight - and am considering cancelling and making alternative arrangements.

Has anyone got experience of transiting Dubai recently with medication? What are the customs like there for transit? What documentation is required for prescribed personal medications?
