Does Canon support wireless flash control? I don't use the flash on my Nikon D70 except to control my separate flash. In this case its very useful (since people using the D3 need to buy a separate on-board wireless commander unit or connect using cables).

From my perspective as a Nikon user, the only advantages of the 5D over the 40D are the bigger sensor and better build. The 40D will be lighter, better designed, newer sensor, etc... Personally, I don't see a good reason for the 5D unless you really need the full frame since you're buying several year old technology.
