The point is not only lounge access. Suppose the only thing I feel like for lunch is Burger King, and the only one at the airport is over in T2 which is not my gate. Does BK issue gate passes?
Suggesting I wait in line at the check in counter to get a pass from the airline so I can wait in line at TSA is NOT an Option in my book. IF I am allowed to go into a TERMINAL NOT MY GATE to visit a Private Club, then I am being allowed to go into a TERMINAL NOT MY GATE for purposes other than flying transportation as shown on my airline provided boarding pass. If, as you suggest, TSA will accept my Private Club Card (Not a Government issue or Photo ID, although it definitely has an expiration date

) to allow me to enter a TERMINAL NOT MY GATE, that's beyond the Kip Hawley level of idiocy.
It's one of those "one exception voids the rule" kind of things. For terminals connected airside, entering any screening station with a valid BP allows access to all terminal areas. For terminals not conntected airside, it should not be any different. Thus it is an unnecessary waste of time for TSA to be checking gate assignments and whether I am going into a terminal containing my gate.
The amount of TSA and pax in line time wasted as UV Bob checks gate assignments for every pax is far longer than the time needed to rescreen the occasional pax who enters the wrong terminal and has to exit and reenter the correct terminal. And has nothing to do with increasing security.
