I agree. From what I read, all they are planning to do is ETD swab. No WTMDs, no stripping, no pat-downs. It may even pass the Fourth Amendment muster since the inconvenience and intrusiveness is rather minimal.
Definitely beats the airports.
I still have some heavy questions around the constitutionality of this procedure. Amtrak Police share jurisdiction with the FBI, and, IIRC, have FLEO authority. If they are the ones performing these procedures, then I fail to see how these will remain Administrative Searches and not automatically be potentially criminal searches by very nature of the agent performing the search.
