LH offers so-called
market fares that includes OS and SK segments and prices are good from BSL (or GVA or ZRH, sometimes even from Altenrhein = ACH). Sunday rule applies.
The 'problem' with your UA Mileage Plus account is, that you need a transcontinental (probably best a transatlantic UA) return flight to qualifly. You don't need that if doing the promotion with LH's miles&more program.
I probably will do this promotion with both (Mileage Plus and miles&more) as I anyway (no mileage run this one) have a transatlantic return in that period.
* On the (already booked) transatlantic ticket, all on LH flights: ZRH-FRA-JFK-FRA-ZRH, I will book ZHR-FRA-ZRH into my miles&more and FRA-JFK-FRA into my UA Mileage Plus account.
* During my JFK stay I probably make a one-day return-'quickie' from JFK to BOS on UA (one segment into miles&more, one into Mileage Plus) for US$ 175 (oncl. taxes), bringing starpartner two into each program.
* A 'market fare'weekend ticket' with OS and SK to Scandinavia via VIE will bring me 4 segments (2 with OS, two with SK) and partner 3 and 4 into each ff-program.
During the French Tennis Open (Roland Garros) I may make a BD (British Midland) weekend flight CDG-UK (Saturday evening to England, Sunday morning back), being the 5th Star-partner for each proram.
