Update

I did "as asked by BA" keep an eye on the avaialblility and now have secured two economy seats on the flight returning to gatwick (so no transfers LHR to LGW).

So- as for my Marrakesh trip I am now "only" out of pocket £5 on the accomodation change fee to reduce the booking by one night and I have lost one day of the holiday.

On the bastia trip - due to BA not passing over the "GB airways" flights to easyjet because of my connecting flights on BA back home from LGW I have had to rebook entirely - ironically on the same flights I have had to cancel with BA and with onward connections now with another carrier home to and from LGW. Total cost to me of the takeover of GB Airways in this case circa £200 extra as I do not have the comfort of a connection (flight times changed) I have had to book hotels either end of the holiday in london and the Easyjet flights I had to book "ironically the same ones I cancelled" costing me circa £50 more than the "first time" I booked them.

Winners ? the "suits" making money out of the sale of GB Airways. The losers? the traveling public.
