The JW has more of a somewhat ornate yet staid, 80s-style hotel. The Westin has a hipper, cooler, W-like feel to it. But the rooms at the JW are bigger. Standard rooms at the Westin on the small side.

I personally much prefer the Westin... nothing like the Heavenly Bed and Bath.
