Of course the unique "get up and go" of the TSA / DHS in making a mountain out of a molehill can never be misunderstimated

The TSA has this illusion that if a bag goes through its paws, it MUST be safe.

I have been on a couple of flights out of ORD that have been delayed to due to, and the captain said this, of the TSA's having to re-screen bags coming in from foreign destinations.

The uber-stupid factor is that CATSA (Canadian TSA) is doing everything Chertoff is telling them to do. Still, this extra "layer" of B.S. is still being dispensed.

Airlines still allow tight connections at U.S. connecting points on flight coming in from Canada, mostly because of the pre-clearance at those bigger Canadian airports. That enables more passengers to go through quickly, a cost benefit to the airlines.

However, since this cuts into the airlines' bottom line through delayed flights and delayed baggage. I would expect something to be done. Chertoff and Hawley won't be involved, it'll be credited to the airlines and the unions coming up with this "idea."
