Does anyone know if it is possible to perform check-in for a GRU-ATL flight at the DL Lounge there, or at the gate (as I don't have a valid Brazilian Visa)? I had no problems with my recent DL ---> LA airside connection, but that was for intra-S. America travel. I'm worried that trying to check in for a U.S.-Bound flight airside might be a whole different can of worms. I hope y'all may have some input on this matter, as the thread I created in the DL Forum dropped out of sight without response.
I didd AA-GRU-TAM and TAM checked me in for my onward flight at the business lounge in GRU w/o problem. I think the only issue is whether the two carriers you are using interline - if they do and can check thru your bags it shouldn't be an issue.
