Thanks for the info ohmark and guv1976. I'll check it out. Kind of wondering if it's agency specific because I still find federal agency travel policies that say the government hotel discount is for official business only. I'll check out the Marriott thread though and also double-check FAA, which I don't believe allows it for leisure.

Edited to add ...skimmed through the 22 pages in that thread and did not see any links to a government page stating federal employees may use government rates on leisure stays. I did find it in government travel docs, but any individual agency can make rules that are more stringent. And, unless there has been a very recent change there are still several agencies that have not adopted this policy.
