I have two SFO-HNL-SFO trips coming up in the next 4 weeks.

As a 1P, upgrading over the years on this route has been generally successful, though using 500's has been more chancy on the outbound than on the return.

For these upcoming trips, the first I upgraded because I got booked on a B fare, so it cost me 8K each way rather than 15.

For the second trip, I've upgraded only the outbound because it is that night flight using a 757. My return is the daytime 777 so I'll stick with E+.
