We know, from what Swoop has said, the direction of NW's FF was to buck the trend of nickel and dimming PAX at redemption time. We know DL's direction, from the changes they have made, have been the exact opposite. In fact, I would contend it's way worse than a lot of you have seen. Just look at DL's FF Promotions. There are hardly any. Mystery Miles, Miles Safari, Great Race, etc. Nothing even close.
Being in Canada (and thus ineligible for the credit cards etc) the promotions haven't been a huge win for me personally. Sure, I'll take them, and I've banked some extra miles, but losing them would not cause me any great headaches.
Delta did major cutbacks in SkyMiles about five years ago, and experienced a major FF revolt at the time, eventually backing down on most of the issues. Today Delta gives 100% EQM on (nearly?) all flights again, unlike CO. The question is whether they still remember that revolt, and whether that will help them make the right choices when merging SkyMiles and WorldPerks.
