What if you cared about your seating on the connectiing flight? What if you'd rather take a different connection? What if you could get on a different outbound flight to meet the new connecting flight.
What if it mattered if the connecting flight was much later, and there was no purpose in taking the original flight?
I prefer they default to telling me as early as possible.
Again, if you don't want them to call, then don't give them the number.
