Ease of 1 handbag restriction transitting LGW

The UK Department for Transport has given approval to a number of UK airports to remove the one-bag restriction on hand baggage.
If you are travelling from or transferring through the following airports you will be allowed to take one piece of hand baggage:
Jersey
Newquay
If you are travelling from or transferring through the following airports you will be allowed to take two pieces of hand baggage:
London Heathrow
London City
Aberdeen
Edinburgh
Glasgow
Manchester
Newcastle
London Gatwick
If you are transferring through London Gatwick airport you will be allowed to take two pieces of hand baggage.
If you are travelling from London Gatwick you will be allowed to take one piece of hand baggage.
Where the two pieces of hand baggage ruling applies the allowance is as follows:
· one standard sized bag, maximum size must not exceed 56cm x 45cm x 25cm (22 inches x 17.5 inches x 9.85 inches) including wheels, pockets and handles
· one laptop sized bag, handbag or briefcase
· a maximum weight of 23kg (51lbs) applies and you must be able to lift the bag unaided into the overhead lockers on the aircraft
Restrictions on the quantity of liquids allowed
You must ensure that all liquid containers do not exceed 100ml and are carried in a clear, re-sealable plastic bag no bigger than 20cm x 20cm (8 inches x 8 inches) that can be easily closed.
Codeshare, franchise and alliance services
If you are travelling on a codeshare, franchise or alliance service you will need to check with the operating airline as the hand baggage allowance may vary.
