I appreciate the various ideas. I think what I'll do is keep 85K - 40K for any emergency US trip, 50K for an international upgrade. I have to earn a few more to reach that, and then I'll switch all these peripheral ways to earn miles to another airline. And I'll purchase the two NZ local tickets.
