I do not recall "Flagship Service" marketing back in the 70s. Maybe on the ticket it said that. The 8 abreast DC-10s were definitely "Luxury Liners" compared to today or the 707s they replaced.
According to AA's filing for "American Flagship Service" with the PTO, the first use in commerce was 01/08/92.
"International Flagship Service" was first used in commerce 12/01/82, nine years prior.
