One or two weeks ago I shared a cab in Ottawa with someone who had just come in on Porter, also bused up to YYZ and then socked (just like me on AC) with another 2 hour delay.
My point was not to get into these interminable Porter vs AC wars, but just that if the requester wants the most comfortable trip for his 80 year old relatives, he should watch for this eventuality and help them if needed. I think chances are they'll have a great trip whether on Porter, AC, or Via1.
Really, the answer depends on where the parents are originating in Toronto and destined to in Ottawa. If they are being picked up, are the people picking them up closer to YOW or the Via station. If it's Via, that's how I'd go. VIA1 is more comfortable than Y on any carrier and unlikely to be impacted by weather, de-icing, etc.
