What does "Flagship" mean, really?

Call me old fashioned, but my understanding was that since the Beginning of Time, "Flagship" was used to denote three-class transcon (AFS) and three-class international (IFS) flights. However, according to this article/press release from AA, "Flagship" is now being used to describe NGBC -- thus any 763 or 777 flight.

Is AA polluting the "Flagship" branding too much, and confusing consumers in the process? I'm starting to think so.

Currently Flagship is available on 58 767-300 aircraft and on about half of its 777 fleet of 47 planes, which service U.S. to Asia, Europe and Latin America destinations.
