Screening pregnant women doesn't require manhandling them or abusive behavior. But given the history of actions of DHS/TSA, it is not far fetched to believe that as a combination of over-reaction to some alert (e.g., false ETD/puffer alarm), miscommunication (e.g., pregnant woman doesn't instantly comply with some order), and the big-catch-syndrome mentality of these organizations, that some innocent pregnant woman will be thrown on the ground, tasered, etc.
PS While I don't advocate violence either, I "quietly hope" you try what you suggest next time you're face to face with a copper...damn, what a hoot!
It won't be me. Quite frankly, there's not enough testosterone in my blood/personality, I'm too educated, too wimpy if you want to say it that way, etc. I'm more of a pen guy than a sword guy. But the beauty of human diversity is that there are plenty of big strong brutes who aren't nearly as reserved as me and have less to lose.
Plus, no pregnant wife here, yet. But I have watched TSOs grope and harass my mother and my SO on different occasions (both in violation of SOP, these were retaliatory screenings), and knowing how that felt in me, i can only imagine how one would feel if my (hypothetical) pregnant wife were getting worse treatment.
Think this doesn't happen, won't happen, or hasn't happened already? See

My point was not that it is smart to fight with cops or TSA, or that anything other than a giant mob will win the physical fight let alone the court case. My point is that otherwise reasonable people will likely have very harsh reactions to such abuses of pregnant women, and that reasonable bystanders will not side with the DHS/cops.
If the cops choose to suppress such actions (or the bystanders) with "nice handy tools as pepper spray, collapsible baton, Tazer, etc." then that's just more proof that we are at the threshold of becoming a nominally democratic police state.
BTW, where was the public condemnation from the 600,000+ cops you cite, and presumably believe are mostly honest law-abiding civil servants, after the incident in Missouri where a cop was caught on video/audio threatening a driver with made up charges? Where's the public condemnation of this action from the police union? Come to find out, the victim in this place received death threats and stalking from other cops, not support or sympathy. How many more of these cases happen, but the victim never gets any justice because everyone just believes the cop? What about the bicyclist at MSP who was tasered and arrested for little or no reason (
http://greencycles.blogspot.com/) and was acquitted by jury of all but one of the trumped up charges?
