Aside from the fact that ID!=safety or security, thanks for the insider's word on exactly which device is used for what purpose. (And, BTW, the procedure started on Jan. 21st.)

Seems to me the TSA has stolen a page from the professional bouncer's playbook with this UV light scheme: SecurityInfoWatch Forums - Discussions for the Security Professional : Fake ID Training (False, Fake, Altered ID's).

Since bouncers are generally employed to spot fake IDs, not defend national security, I'm not sure whether the TSA's ID checkers should feel insulted by being leveled to the bouncer's domain or that bouncers should feel some sort of elevated status. Thots?
