You can still get to NAN, but you're going to have to connect in AKL in both directions, and the demand for space on NZ's flights between LAX/SFO and AKL makes that an extremely difficult route on which to redeem miles. NZ is discontinuing its nonstop flights in both directions between NAN and LAX and placing its code on FJ's own nonstop flights. The FJ-operated, NZ-coded flights are not available for Star Alliance award redemption, however.
