Do NOT use the dispatcher; though the document s/he will present you DOES contain, in very small print on the verso, the $10 surcharge info, who ever reads that stuff when just off an international flight and thinking of many other things?
Just flag any cab. >sheesh<
Just to clarify for others:

Hacienda Hotel runs a free shuttle, as do many of the nearby hotels.

Second, LA instituted a flat $15 minimum fare ex-LAX (plus the regular airport exit fee of $2.50) last year. Doesn't matter if you're going to the Hacienda or to Manhattan Beach (which is closer to $15). This was done because the cab assn complained that its drivers were getting hit w/ small rides to Century Blvd & other close hotels, after sitting in the LAX cab staging area for hours & couldn't make a living.

Third, cabs at LAX will not let you 'flag them down' as they don't want to lose their license if they were caught accepting fares being flagged vs in the dispatch queue.

Hope that clarifies, at least with regards to LAX.

Cheers.
