I'm relatively new to SPG, I am Gold but have stays booked which will mean I reach Plat in less than two weeks time
I have stayed in various properties and brands in the past few years and the one thing I feel is the most important is the "front desk" service. This is probably the one and only time I ever interact with any hotel staff member as bookings are made online, check-out is usually via express.
I like warm, personal attention with a hint of enthusiasm and happiness. Although I general dislike chit-chat, I do like the smile, the nod of the head, just a sign that a happy worker is a good place to stay in!
I've had front desk service from some 5* properties where they have only said "Hi" but No, "Hi, How are you today sir?".
I've also checked in with Plat members in the specific Plat lines and have had service which is more "zombie-like" or "robot-like". If I want a zombie or a robot, give me computer check-in kiosks in the hotel lobby.
