Leading Hotels (LHW) Leader's Club
I'm not a frequent patron of LHW hotels, but on my last recent visit to the Landis in Taipei, I recieved an invitation to join their rewards program at the "basic" level (similar to the invite to Langham although that was their elite level).
It seems anyone can join for free, invited or not.
I have stayed at the Landis a couple of times, and always been very impressed with service et al.
However, this time was really above and beyond when it came to service.
I received (presumably at least partly based on my LHW Leaders Club memberhsip):
A room upgrade to a top floor corner suite that was recently renovated with plasma tvs in the bathroom among other features (keep in mind it is/was Chinese New Year and the property was busy).
A personalized note from the GM thanking me for joining the club, and staying at the property.
Chocolates
Fresh Fruit
Biscuits
A sterling silver very artistic key chain
Offer of a late checkout (I didn't need it)
I was also able to check in basically in my room, nice touch as I was escorted to the room by one of the staff and invited to confirm my details at the desk in the room.
To top it off, approximatley ten minutes after checking in, I received a phone call from the GM!
He apologized for not being available in person to greet me, explaining that he was traveling on business and also had family obligations with Chinese New Year. He asked if my room was ok, and did I need anything? He then left me his mobile number in case I needed anything.
Needless to say, very impressed, especially with this last personal touch. He'd obviously done a bit of research as he knew I was Canadian.
