Space alone would be a decisive factor. I do remember my few experiences on CX many years ago; back then the service was rather nice even in Y but the seats were just as cramped as anyone else's.
Hehe. Of course CX Y cannot compete with the personal space available in every C product. But then we actually land in the area what is important and how products can be compared.

In one way it is fair to compare anything in the world, cheap Chinese car to Maybach or Rolls-Royce. Then it is a more of question how much you get with your money. And then it is unfair to compare some of the products when we are comparing directly some other parts.

CX is generally more expensive than AY so is it fair to compare them? AY would probably be more aligned with CX if they would be charging the same but they aren't and people are choosing them for that reason.

I am a huge C fan, unfortunately most of my travel is out from my own pocket and I rather spend the money to something else than C product (for example for a better hotel room in the destination), so I would like to travel in C all the time if possible. But when I tried new CX Y I was just "wow". Of course it doesn't provide the space and comfort the C product would provide but the IFE is out of this planet (and many times better than AY/SK C for example). I like IFE - it is important for me as I don't sleep so much on board, many other people didn't even notice if there is an IFE or not.

Service - yeah, I like the Asian way of service. How they pay attention to details and how I get the smile. Many people are going to disagreeing with me and I understand that perfectly but I am not a huge fan of the more formal service.

When I tried CX new Y, it was after AY C - and I must say that if I would now choose between those two - I would go for CX Y. You can call me crazy, I know I am but that is the truth. Seat, meals, service and IFE - those were so good in that flight. Oh, now I want to go back on board of CX.

Okay, I said that in my opinion it is unfair to compare CX and AY and then I just did that. Guilty as charged.

I am now considering on booking Air China long-haul for March trip to China instead of Finnair. I have Star Alliance Gold and I actually like Air China's service. Now nobody will take me seriously any longer and everyone thinks I am crazy.
