Just have a word with the crew and tell them you're continuing on but have a separate BP. They then have a word with the groundstaff who will onload you for the next leg as if you'd boarded and give you your BP back.

Aside from the saddos like us FTers doing it for TPs, I can quite easily see legit reasons for it happening - i.e. you book a trip to the region and then after the fact there's a meeting you're called to in the 'add on' destination...far easier just to get a second ticket than change the original one I'd say.
