AY doesn't compare

Flew AY just a couple of days ago in long haul in J from BOM to HEL in route to LHR for a few day stop over before heading home to the US. I've flown CX, SQ and BA recently in J, and was not impressed with the comparison.

AY is not in the same league. Average J class as best, compared with European competition (KL, SAS, etc). One caveat, I'll make before moving on, I was on the old 340 (not 340E, so it did not show the new hard product at it's best). Beat up cabin, uncomfortable seats (even for not true flat comparison), poor Audio Video, and mediocre onboard service in terms of both food and cabin service. The others have a better product, without question in terms of seats and onboard service.

All and all, I can't complain. I choose the AY routing back from BOM because they had an I fare that saved my P&L a couple of thousand dollars. I'd choose them again under the same circumstances to save the money, but for same fare, there are better products out there.

One plus, however, is HEL if you must connect to reach your destination. Much easier connection than any other European hub.
