If they have the rights on the route, you can buy two separate tickets. It's BA to BA so per the rules they will check your bags through. If the route supports OLCI then you can OLCI for both legs at the appropriate time and PYOBP...though they should also be able to issue your BP at LON for the onward leg. In short: Yes (in both theory and practice).
