Flying in paid F will ensure you get the best service on the ground and they will do the impossible to help you make the connection. I think the difference is more than marginal, the F suites are a lot more comfortable than the business seats, and, at least for now, UA is still serving decent Champagne in F. I wont even go into what they serve in C....
