Thanks for a very accurate description of things to anticipate.

When I arrived the outside location across the street from the terminal was being renovated, in fact the facility I used to drop off the vehicle was the new place next door to the old smaller facility in the same row of rental car places.

The vehicle as mentioned above was beat up. I got a 2006 Toyota Yaris with 30k km on the clock. The car was dinged up all around and ran poorly.

Matter of fact, about 15 minutes after leaving the airport I turned around and went back because there was a very hard knocking sound coming from under the hood. I thought it was the AC compressor, but after driving around with no AC it was still happening.

I told the nice people at the airport that I'm refusing to take this car to which they replied that they'd be happy to issue a full refund. Unfortunately they had absolutely no other cars to offer me. This happened on a Tuesday and I found that hard to believe.

The people that left as I returned to the Budget had a new 2008 Toyota Yaris which looked to be in much better shape, however this was an automatic so presumably more money to rent.

Anyway, I probably wouldn't recommend this place for others traveling. You might save a few bucks but the worry of having the car break down on you for some silly reason is no way to spend a vacation.

I ended up keeping the car, after they documented the faults. Although I tried not to use the car much while on the island, and when I did it started stalling on me every once in a while... not sure if it was related to the knocking problem, but the lady at the counter claimed i don't really know how to drive stick..... Go figure!

PS. I offered to take her as my personal chauffeur out of which everyone in the place got a good laugh.
