Blue Bottle Cafe NOT good for breakfast - just coffee...

Went down to 66 Mint St to partake of the delicious breakfasts - even touted by the NY TIMES (!)

Got there just before 8 (place opens at 7 on weekdays) and they had no food yet. Since we saw bread, eggs etc on the counter we were confused so it seemed like the chef just wasn't ready to cook yet??? We each had some coffee - best ever - but we were hungry!! By about 8:30 they still weren't serving food but we looked so pitiful the chef turned and said )"oh ok, .) So we had some delicious toast with organic preserves and the best butter since President Butter - but it was $5 !
We also had the pear and apple compote with nuts, raisins and Greek style yogurt - huge bowl we could barely finish - for $6 and that was a great deal!

They also supposedly serve polenta and poached eggs but the chef looked so grumpy we didn't dare order.

So - I'd wait till they got some kinks out before i went back. It was NOT busy and they were still having a lot of problems...
