Has anyone rented an apartment in Rio (short term- 1 week) and been happy with the location/property/experience? If so I would like to hear more. We are looking for a nice 1 bedroom, high speed internet, a/c, maybe pool, Ipanema in a good location, safe location,etc. We currently have reservations at the Sofitel and I know being in an apartment is completely different from a hotel. The apartments sound like a good deal and even look very nice. There just seem to be so many, I wonder if hearing about someone else's experience might cut down on the weeding to find a good property.

Also, wouldn't mind working with folks that are gay friendly and might answer questions on where to go/what to do.
