I expect this event was a flow-on from 743 VH-EBW that was taken out of service yesterday with a cracked windscreen. As a result, the A333 that was planned to operate QF77 PER-SIN was moved onto domestic ops and QF77 was cancelled. So that would have meant they had unusual ops for several PER flights and hence had to make plans for tech crews to remain legal for the day's ops.

There does seem to be a lot of issues with the 743's from Perth in recent times. I had a 12 hour delay, there have been 3 news stories in the past 6 months about extensive delays on the midnight horrors.
Hate the 738's, 734's are unreliable...... what is Perth coming to?
As for the compo, i have been delayed far longer, as i am sure we all have through MEL & SYD to anywhere so I would expect like the rest for a nice round number in that regard. Instead i would cheekily ask for my 10, 20 or 40 SC's depending on class and my 1000 points, despite the continuing flight as a fair compensation taht costs essentially nothing
