Sounds a lot like the problem I had with my corporate code. I really think Avis's computer system consists of a web server that hosts the website and pages and no more. The "backend" is just a bunch of hamsters running around with little post-it notes with reservations, My Avis info, etc.... All are under the tight supervision of a few overweight ferrets.
