First, I find TripAdvisor to be quite reliable as long as you read the tone of the poster as well as the review. I can usually pick which to ignore and which to believe. I'm a regular poster there. Here is my review, admittedly from 5/06 but I think you'll be happy with it. If you want a nice Four Seasons with it's only flaw being there is no place nearby for dinner etc. then check out Great Exuma. Fantastic resort, but you're stuck on the resort for all intents and purposes. PM me if you have any Q's.

If you hold FS Nevis to standards set for chain hotels of a Marriott/Westin class then it's definately excellent. If you hold this property to Four Seasons standards then you will definately be disappointed. I got an extremely good deal, but even taking that in to account, the management of this property does need to tighten things up.
Greeting at Nevis airport was perfect and totally organized. Check in was a breeze. The room was as expected. The property lines a long stretch of beach with a choice of a ground floor room with it's own patio and two chairs and a table, or a screened in porch on the second floor. I'm glad I had the open porch for use during the day. The screens only help with the bugs after the sun goes down. The room was nice, but there was not a single attribute that said "you are in a higher class of hotel" other than the bathroom, which was large and well appointed. The beach service was the best, plenty of chairs and water, towels and spritz practically every half hour. The fruit mentioned by another patron below was offered to me one time on one day, and I was on the beach for hours for 4 out of 5 days. Housekeeping was great. Bed was comfortable. Food service was the most disappointing part. One dish was under cooked, the breakfast was missing promised elements and a dinner had not even a hint of garnish for presentation. Taste of all dishes was uniformly mediocre. Room service was extremely prompt though.
My confirmation (not the website) noted that round trip transfers from the airport were $50, but the hotel charged $60 if you let them charge the regular taxi to your room which is what they arrange. If you walk out to the taxi yourself and pay out of your own pocket then it's $16 each way. One last tip for those of us who keep track of such things: Aside from the 10% tip added on to every service automatically, they also add 10% service onto the nightly room rate. You could be leaving $40-hundreds of dollars per night as tips depending on your room rate, and this basically covers housekeeping and bell services as every other service has an additional 10% added on. This can add up quickly. I agree that most 4 Seasons types would not care, but there are a few who I'm sure save up for quite a while to take a nice vacation once in a while and this bit of info could make a difference for them. Over all it's a beautiful place to vacation, but probably at the bottom of the 4 Seasons class of hotels.
