Can you recommend some good reads?

I'm not really into the stereotypical gay books with sexually explicit covers I really like Christopher Rice and all of the books he has written. The reason: he writes good stories with suspence, humor, and great imagination just like any other good writers. But instead of straight characters, he writes gay characters. Nothing stereotypical. The characters are not on a quest to get laid

Any ideas? I have an upcoming 12 hr flight in Y with no IFE and will really need a good book.
