You could easily have gone to the First Air (I wasn't able to find out what 5N was) counter and bought a ticket.
They told me sod all, they said they ONLY way I could get out of YZF was on the their YZF-YVR the next day, at that point I did not know 7F & 5N were still flying, Had I have known I would have tried either First Air or Canadian North but I had booked a hotel based on the info given to me by AC and all hotels in YZF have a 24hr cancellation policy so by then I was buggered either way.

Why this assumption?
My company does not book refundable fares as they have enough clout with AC not to have to. We can refund otherwise non-refundable tickets.
