Just to dissipate a myth here, Mexicans and many other Latin Americans DO NOT need a visa for Japan (and like many Europeans, Mexicans can stay there for up to 6 months vs. 90 days for US nationals) - so there isn't really an issue with missing a connection to AM in NRT...
