The said "head" FA then went on to pull out a bag of chips and eat them in the galley while the other sat reading - all while we waited at the gate. At least one other flight this year the FA chomped on snacks while waiting in the galley and not serving drinks.

All flights were East based - however one FC FA that did serve pre-flight also hustled the coats during boarding and helped passengers in both classes so we could leave on time. She earned an Above & Beyond from me. Was that you GalleyWench?
Hi PittDoc,
I doubt if it was me, because I don't work f/c very often. However, the position I normally fly (if my seniority allows it) is the floater position. You stand up front during boarding and assist with pre-departure and coat hanging, then go to the back to brief the exit row and help with stowing remaining bags. I always compare finding space for extra bags with loading the dishwasher; with a little bit of rearranging I can either fit an extra meal's worth of dishes or a few more rollerboards. Then I compare my husband to a lot of passengers, he swears it's full and then gets a little embarassed when I wave my magic wand and presto...look at all this room!!
To be honest, I very rarely see A&B's on east flights. Not that I haven't worked with a lot of great f/a's that deserve them, but I don't think they've caught on that much on the east coast yet. If you ask an "east" f/a what an A&B is, I would bet that many don't have a clue. We still get most of our compliments the old fashioned way with good letters and emails.
