You may have an issue with United reservations, since they sold you the ticket, but it's a different airline.
  • I don't have a contract with UAX (Skywest, in this case). I have a contract, not just a "ticket", with United.
  • United makes no effort to differentiate service levels between their own mainline aircraft and their subs.
  • The Skywest aircraft don't say "Skywest" on them, they say "United."
  • When there's a problem with a UAX flight and you're given compensation at the gate, that compensation isn't just for a UAX flight, it's for anything in the United system (within th erules of the ocmpensation).

So yes, it may not actually be United maintenance people doing the work on the UAX aircraft (do you know for sure that's the case?), but I doubt UA would try and dock responsibility for problems on a UAX flight by claiming they're not responsible. Nor should they.
