Just FYI, I've used Government rates in San Jose/Santa Clara/Sunnyvale, but you have to book them quite a while in advance. Sometimes as much as 3 or 4 months.
A few of the sites (Res Inn Sunnyvale I) don't offer govt rates (mentioned in the previous post). Some offer only a couple rooms (Res Inn Sunnyvale II)
In other words, book early. Very early......
