I spend a lot of time in Italy and use my cell phone with a pay-as-you-go Italian SIM card for local calls and an international calling card for when I want to call the U.S. But I use the card from landlines; if I used my cell, even though I'm calling an Italian toll free number, I'm still paying for the minutes.
