I don't see what your "rant" has to do with *G. As far as I know, you get lounge access either based on *G
or based on CoS, you get nothing extra (in terms of lounge access) by flying paid F
and having *G status. So, in your "rant case" it's a matter of how they treated an F pax rather than how they treated a *G.
