Not sure fares will be lower as time gets closer to the Olympics. At the moment, it looks like an expensive Olympic experience.

I don't think the quoted fares will hold the test of time. Watch them to go down. There are many cheaper (but may take longer air time and layover) routing possibilities to get you to Beijing for the Olympics.
