Do a search on "Sol Melia" in the Delta forum. You are not supposed to be able to transfer the sign-up points into miles. Some have lucked out in the past, but they were the exception, not the rule. However, if you earn enough points for a stay, presumably, you can transfer these points to Delta. From a "scheme" standpoint, you are likely out of luck. For a mattress run, it may pan out.

Now to refine the question: Do you have to be a member of MAS to get miles (via transfer) or can you simply give your Skymiles # upon check-in?
(I discovered the answert to my earlier question about Accor... must give SM # at check-in)
