When Southern Sun cancelled the master franchise agreement in 2005 (which basically meant no other operator could open IHG-branded properties in SA), IHG stated they would use multiple operators going forward to rebuild the portfolio. I think the only Southern Sun South African IHG properties left are the two Intercontinentals in Johannesburg.
